What does Foldtally count?
While active, Foldtally can count an observed closed-to-fully-open movement on compatible hardware. Initial discovery of an open phone and partial opening do not count as completed unfolds. The total covers records since tracking began, not the phone’s factory lifetime.
How do I set up Shortcuts?
Open Foldtally → Settings → Tracking setup. The app offers Record Fold and Record Unfold actions. If your device’s Shortcuts app provides a hinge opened/closed trigger, configure separate closed and opened automations using the matching actions. The exact trigger availability must be checked on your device. An App Is Opened/Closed trigger measures app use, not hinge movement.
After a known fold and unfold, return to History and check that the new records say Shortcuts action. Foreground hinge records alone do not prove an automation ran. Foldtally cannot create personal automations for you.
Why does recording say unverified?
Onboarding completion does not prove recording is running. A recent Shortcuts receipt proves that an action reached the database. No recent action may simply mean no recent fold; it does not prove that your automation is disabled.
Why can the count differ from my physical folds?
Missing observations, missed closed actions, delayed deliveries and ambiguous overlap between foreground observations and Shortcuts can affect totals. Repeated open actions without a closed action are deduplicated. Foldtally never presents its records as a hardware wear diagnostic.
How do I export or delete history?
In Settings, prepare a CSV export and use Share CSV to choose its destination. Delete all history asks for confirmation and clears local records and counting state. It does not remove exports, Apple-managed backups or Shortcuts automations. New events may be recorded again if recording remains enabled.
Do I need an account?
No. The app has no developer-operated server, advertising SDK or activity analytics service. See the privacy policy for storage, export and support-contact details.
